A spectacular and most impressive large scale Italian early 18th century Louis XIV period patinated wood, giltwood, faux painted marble and scagliola console. The freestanding console is raised by fine topie shaped feet below striking tapered lightly curved legs decorated with most impressive gilt scrolls set on a most decorative polychrome background with faux painted Lapis Lazuli reserves. Each leg is connected by a beautiful stretcher with exceptional and most unique draped swaging fabrics with tassels and a central scrolled foliate reserve with a majestic coat of arms. The scalloped shaped apron displays superb scrolled designs with additional wonderfully executed draped fabric designs with finely carved flowers and a central reserve with scrolled etched giltwood letters set on a faux painted marble background.
