A most elegant and high quality French 19th century Louis XVI st. mahogany, charm wood, and burl wood commode, attributed to Maison Krieger. The three drawer chest is raised by circular tapered legs with finely fitted ormolu sabots and mottled ormolu top caps. The apron displays a decorative curved element with a beautiful richly chased ormolu mount with a foliate acanthus leaf design in a striking satin and burnished finish. At the center are the three drawers, the bottom two being sans traverse (without crossbar) showcasing the cabinet maker's high skill set and emphasizing the beautiful wood grain which spreads over the drawers. Each display finely chased berried laurel ormolu keyhole escutcheons tied with ribbons and berried laurel pulls set on a beautiful burl wood background and framed within a delicate charm wood band. The sides also display beautiful burl wood panels framed within a fine charm wood band while the corners display striking pierced fluted ormolu mounts with finely detailed swaging berried laurel garlands. Above is the original Fleur de Pêcher marble top with cut corners and a fine mottled border. — Read Less
