A beautiful and extremely elegant French 19th Century Louis XV st. kingwood, tulipwood and ormolu dressing table. The table is raised by slender cabriole legs with fine wrap around foliate ormolu sabots. A most decorative ormolu chute leads up each leg to a richly chased pierced foliate corner mount in a satin and burnished finish. The scalloped shaped frieze display striking floral marquetry with intricately inlaid tulipwood and charm wood extending across one drawer with a fine foliate ormolu keyhole escutcheon. The sides and back are decorated in the same manner. The drawer pulls open to reveal removable side compartments and the original gold tooled leather writing surface with an ormolu pull, which flips up to display its original mirror. Above is the masterfully executed decorative marquetry top which displays a striking central scene of the charming French countryside, framed within foliate and flora intricately inlaid designs and a mottled ormolu gallery. — Read Less
