A spectacular and most impressive French 19th century Louis XVI st. burl walnut and ormolu cabinet by Guillaume Grohé. The cabinet is raised by ebony block supports below the frieze with a protruding central section. The cabinet door is elaborately decorated by a triple raised façade with a floral bouquet marquetry of exotic woods and mother of pearl. The central panel has a brass rosette at each corner bordered by filets of brass and quarter round inlays of burl walnut and tulipwood. The door opens to reveal an adjustable shelf and is flanked by vertical brass fitted fluted columns. At each side are six drawers with raised central panels with brass keyhole escutcheons and borders. At the apron there are three additional drawers likewise decorated. Above is the original white Carrara marble top that follows the contours of the cabinet. — Read Less
