A spectacular and very high quality French 18th century Louis XIV st. Ebony, Rosewood, giltwood, brass, bone, and tortoiseshell Boulle specimen cabinet. The thirteen drawer cabinet is raised by handsome square tapered legs with finely mottled giltwood sabots and ormolu top caps. Above a mottled brass band are an impressive array of thirteen drawers of various sizes and each inlaid with stunning intricately detailed scrolled foliate brass designs set on an exceptional and most decorative tortoiseshell background framed within a lovely floral etched brass band. At the center is a superb and incredibly unique arched open compartment with a stunningly inlaid Ebony and bone floor in front of the original angled mirror plates. The sides display magnificent quarter veneered Rosewood panels with a masterfully inlaid central floral brass reserve framed within an Ebony band with oblong and heart shaped reserves with additional spectacular floral and foliate brass inlaid designs. Above is an elegant concave top band decorated with charming and finely detailed brass inlaid cherubs playing with goats with additional floral inlays centering the keyhole to the top compartment.
