An outstanding and very high quality Italian mid 18th century ebonized Fruitwood, Walnut, burl walnut, Tulipwood and ivory commode. The chest from the Lombardi region is raised by lovely mottled bun feet below an elegant ebonized Fruitwood mottled band with a superb cut concave design at the center. Each drawer repeats the same extremely decorative shape with charming wonderfully executed central Tulipwood and ivory personages lying amidst wonderfully executed birds and intricately detailed blooming flowers with beautiful pyrograved accents with handsome lion head pulls and pierced foliate keyhole escutcheons set on a Walnut background and framed within a mottled ebonized Fruitwood border. Each side panel displays exquisite masterfully executed marquetry inlaid birds also displaying exceptional pyrograved accents framed within a lovely ebonized Fruitwood and Tulipwood border. The top is decorated in a similar manner with a striking central inlaid Tulipwood and ivory reserve of a lady lying eating grapes with another wonderfully detailed lady holding a mirror all framed within beautiful scrolled foliate designs set on a Walnut background with stunning inlaid birds at each corner.
