A handsome and most impressive Italian 19th century white Carrara, Sarrancolin marble, Patinated Bronze and Faux Painted marble bust of August Caesar. This exceptional bust is raised on a wonderful Italian 19th century Faux Painted Marble pedestal. The pedestal displays a mottled square base below the square tapered faux Rouge marble column. The column has a central recessed panel of boldly carved faux white Carrara marble foliage below swaging garlands joined at the center by a rosette. Above is the exquisite Sarrancolin and white Carrara marble bust of Augustus Caesar showcasing him in his intricately detailed celebratory armor. A Patinated Bronze lion head and fibula accent his chest and left shoulder, while handsome lion heads rest atop his shoulders. As in classical depictions, he is gazing off to the right with a stoic expression.
