A stunning and extremely high quality Italian 19th century white Carrara marble statue of a Neapolitan fisher boy on a Vert de Patricia marble pedestal. The statue is raised on a most handsome Vert de Patricia marble pedestal with a fine octagonal base below a circular mottled socle support and a central support displaying striking and most decorative fluted spiral designs. The charming and wonderfully executed fisher boy stands barefoot above on a ground like designed base and in front of a tree stump. He is dressed in charming shorts with masterfully executed folds and pleats with a finely detailed belt and flowing shirt. He is wearing a hat over his curly hair and is holding his tied bamboo fishing pole in one hand and his intricately sculpted catches of the day in the other. Superb attention to detail throughout.
