An exceptional Italian 19th century white Carrara marble statue. The statue depicts a young girl mourning the death of her pet bird. The statue is raised by an oblong base with a fine ground design where the fallen bird lays at the girl's feet and in front of a wonderfully executed tree truck. The charming young girl is wearing a richly sculpted garment falling off one of her shoulders with her head bowed down and her hands held together at her front.
