A stunning and most impressive Italian 19th century Baroque st. ebonized Fruitwood, ormolu, and reverse painted glass specimen cabinet. The eighteen drawer one door cabinet is raised on its original base with handsome square tapered legs, topie shaped feet and superb reverse painted glass panels fitted to look like semi precious stones and are connected by a beautiful and most charming scalloped shaped stretcher with additional fitted reserves. Above each leg are oval reserves while the apron displays one drawer with additional stunning wonderfully executed reverse painted glass panels mimicking marble, malachite, and a sensational Lapis Lazuli. The cabinet above displays sixteen drawers each decorated with their own spectacular masterfully executed double reverse painted glass panels depicting a beautiful semi precious stone, framed within richly chased pierced scrolled foliate ormolu mounts with a central finely detailed personage as a pull. At the center is a single door with an intricately detailed satyr of Pan, the god of the wild, playing the flute and which opens to reveal a finished storage compartment. Above is a single drawer with a striking green coloration flanked by columns and impressive lightly curved architectural elements with fine ormolu topie shaped finials and a remarkable baluster designed pierced gallery above with charming richly chased acorn finials. — Read Less
