An extremely handsome and unique Italian 17th century Baroque period ebonized Fruitwood, Walnut and Tulipwood chest and travel hutch. The chest is raised by scalloped block supports below the mottled frieze and the three impressive drawers with exceptional carvings and recessed panels of Fruitwood marquetry on a Walnut background, and with each drawer retaining its original decorative iron pulls and keyhole escutcheon. Above is the original travel hutch raised on richly carved pawed supports and displaying four drawers which are decorated in a similar fashion as the lower drawers and centered by a carved central door with its original owner's family crest. At the top are two secret compartments, revealed by sliding out the top to each side. All original hardware and patina, with wonderful character and presence. — Read Less
