A stunning and most important Italian 17th century Baroque period ebonized Fruitwood and bronze secretary/commode circa 1680. The seven drawer chest from Milan, is raised by impressive mottled supports below striking columns with recessed mottled designs leading up each side and flanking four drawers. The front drawers each display a wonderful and most decorative scalloped shaped front each decorated with beautiful bronze pulls and richly chased crowned eagle keyhole escutcheons. The top drawer opens to reveal the flap down front secured by its two original hook showcasing the handsome original lock and three drawers at the back with fine turned pulls and a central letter compartment. The sides also display beautiful recessed panels while the top displays an exceptional French polish finish showcasing the wonderful wood grain framed within a most decorative veneered border.
