An impressive and life-size true pair of Italian early 19th century polychrome and giltwood Roman statues. Each large scale statue is raised by an oval base where the soldiers are standing. Each handsome bearded soldier is dressed in wonderfully executed flowing classical Roman attire with armor and helmets with feathers and curved swords with bird handles in sheaths tied to their belts and decorated with beautiful foliate carvings. They are standing in striking theatrical poses with one soldier holding and arm in the air almost pointing with the other soldier holding a hand to his chest as if speaking downwards.
