A spectacular and high quality pair of large scaled Roman 18th century Louis XV period giltwood throne armchairs. This pair of chairs are 'A Chasis' which signifies the ease of removing the seat and back enabling to change the upholstery for each season. Each are raised by cabriole legs with bold and richly carved acanthus leaves and flowers within a crest. The arbalest shaped front frieze has a central reserve with a flower within a foliate crest. The two side friezes have an 'S' scrolled design below the powerful and wonderfully proportioned arms with upholstered armrests. The high back leads to a top scroll flanked by flowers and 'C' scrolls. All original gilt. — Read Less
