A stunning pair of French 19th century Renaissance st. ormolu ewers. Each ewer is raised by an elegant square base with scrolled supports and a hammered design. The socle pedestal displays a twisted and a reeded ormolu pattern. The body is decorated with a striking and most impressive hammered pattern throughout. Decorated by rich foliate movements, interlocking serpents, horned satyrs, impressive large and detailed wings, and a most unique and rare crab design at each side. The neck displays a spiraled foliate motif , flanked by female busts, and a richly chased horned satyr on the fluted spout. The scrolled foliate handle ends with claw design.
