An exceptional and most elegant pair of French 19th century Napoleon III period ebonized fruitwood and ormolu cabinet vitrines. Each impressive two door, two drawer vitrine is raised by block supports flanking the scalloped shaped frieze decorated with a central richly chased ormolu mount of an urn of prosperity amidst fine acanthus leaves. At the center are two doors, each retaining their original glass panes set within a decorative geometrically shaped ebonized fruitwood frame decorated with finely chased ormolu bands with Coeur de Rai designs. Each door displays a charming tied ribbon ormolu keyhole escutcheon and opens to reveal one glass shelf and the red velvet interior illuminated by concealed lights. Elegant architectural column like supports lead up each side flanking the doors and decorated with beaded ormolu fillets. The two drawers above each display a lovely floral pull and are also decorated with fine beaded ormolu fillets centering the keyhole escutcheon which locks both drawers and set below a charming pull out showcasing its original fitted gold tooled red leather writing surface. The French polished tops showcase the beautiful wood and are framed within Entrelacs et les Rosaces designed wrap around ormolu bands. — Read Less
