A high quality and extremely charming French 19th century Louis XVI st. white Carrara marble, ormolu and patinated bronze clock, signed Briscard, à Paris. The clock is raised by a rectangular white Carrara marble base with a fine beaded wrap around ormolu band. Above are handsome paw feet supports joined by wonderfully executed swaging garlands with a central eternal flame and quiver. Above a lovely Coeur de Rai band is the enameled dial with Roman and Arabic numbers and graceful pierced ormolu hands. At each side are charming richly chased patinated bronze cherubs each draped in a flowing fabric. The cherub on the right is wearing a quiver full of arrows while the one on the left holds an impressive ormolu spear, an oblong shield and is wearing a striking helmet. Above are two beautiful richly chased lovebirds amidst a cloud like design in a striking satin and burnished finish. All original gilt throughout. — Read Less
