A stunning French early 19th century Louis XV st. Ebony, brass and Tortoiseshell side table/desk. The single drawer rectangular table is raised by elegant cabriole legs with handsome paw feet with large acanthus leaves and decorated with most decorative finely inlaid scrolled foliate brass fillets set on a beautiful Tortoiseshell background. Above each leg are striking richly chased ormolu corner mounts of handsome bearded men centering the drawer which displays a concealed button to unlock it. The drawer is decorated with additional exquisite masterfully executed inlaid scrolled foliate brass designs with charming birds and blooming flowers framed within a finely detailed wrap around foliate ormolu band and lovely tassel designs. The back and sides are decorated in the same manner with the sides each centered by an impressive ormolu mask of handsome bearded men wearing a crown.
