A striking and high quality French 19th century Neo-Classical st. flamed mahogany, ormolu, patinated bronze, ebony and Brèche Basque marble buffet. The buffet is raised by elegant baluster shaped legs below the straight frieze with a fine mottled border. At the center are two doors which showcase the stunning flamed mahogany grain and are centered by beautiful finely detailed plaques of gladiators in chariots amidst scrolled rinceaux designs and richly chased pierced palmettes. The outer doors also showcase the beautiful wood grain and are framed within an intricately detailed patinated bronze foliate laurel band and fine ormolu fillets. The doors are separated by most decorative ebony architectural columns with fine ormolu plinths and top caps. Each door opens to reveal all original hardware and one adjustable shelf. Above each column are richly chased ormolu mounts of Athena flanked by striking patinated bronze palmettes and lovely ormolu foliate geometric designs.
