A spectacular French 19th century Napoleon III Period Ebony, Ormolu and Hardstone cabinet vitrine. This impressive cabinet with Boulle inlays is raised on six bun feet with Ormolu bands. The straight and scalloped frieze above displays striking foliate Ormolu mounts flanked by rosettes blocks all below a finely chased Ormolu laurel band. The two side doors retain the original hand blown glass panes within Ormolu borders, and all with Ormolu keyhole escutcheons. The central door displays remarkable Hardstone designs of berries, fruits and bouquet of flowers amidst branches with a bird at the center. The door is framed within richly chased Ormolu bands with a Ruban Noué bow above. Each door is flanked by stunning Brass inlayed columns with richly chased foliate Ormolu mounts at the base, Ormolu rosettes at the center, and fluted scrolled capitals. The doors open to reveal two interior shelves that lay the whole width of the cabinet. At the top apron is an intertwined pierced Ormolu geometric band in front of an exceptionally well executed faux green Tortoiseshell background. Above is the polished Ebony top which follows the contours of the cabinet and displays Brass inlays on its outer edge. — Read Less
