A charming and high quality French 19th century Louis XVI st. watercolor painting, in the manner of Francois Boucher. The beautiful hand painted watercolor depicts Boucher's painting titled La Cible D'Amour (Love Target). Wonderfully detailed cherubs are sitting in the forefront by the edge of a river. Their quivers are laying on the ground around a fire where they are breaking and burning their arrows. An additional cherub is playing in the waterfall behind them where he is pouring out a vessel of water. Above are two graceful lovebirds frolicking in the clouds while four cherubs play with a target while shooting arrows at the heart in the center. The painting is set in its original elegant giltwood frame with a fine twisted rope border and mottled design. At each side and above a richly carved swaging floral garlands and a delicate tied ribbon. All original gilt throughout. — Read Less
