A charming and high quality French 19th century Louis XVI st. ormolu and patinated bronze statue of young Cupid and Psyche, titled "DÉSARMÉ!", signed by Auguste Moreau. The beautiful statue is raised by a circular mottled patinated bronze base with a lovely central ormolu scroll with the French inscription "Désarmé" (which translates to disarmed). Above are Cupid and Psyche both draped in fine flowing garments. Cupid stands while the young Psyche is seated on a rock amidst water flora where the signature is displayed. Cupid is wearing a quiver with arrows and is attempting to kiss the young Psyche on the cheek. At the same time, Psyche is attempting to discreetly remove an arrow from Cupid's quiver behind his back. Lovely subject matter. — Read Less
