A stunning and very high quality French 19th century Louis XVI st. Rouge Griotte marble and ormolu statue signed Moreau. The statue is raised on its original most impressive oblong shaped Rouge Griotte marble base with an exquisite bottom mottled foliate ormolu band, lovely scrolled foliate mounts at each side, and a remarkable central smooth cabochon reserve flanked by charming intricately detailed cherubs, a handsome roaring lion's head, and striking ormolu plaques. Above is a beautiful richly chased maiden covering herself with a wonderfully executed flowing garment while seated on a bench with paw feet with her legs crossed and her hair tied with a hair band.
