A striking and most elegant French 19th century Louis XVI st. ormolu fire screen. The screen is raised by finely scrolled feet with a most decorative overlapping geometric pattern and large acanthus leaves below block rosettes. A beautiful and finely detailed mottled Coeur de Rai band extends along the border framing the original mesh background with richly chased swans amidst water flora at each corner and two charming intricately detailed winged cherubs kissing with a flowing garment while standing on a cloud amidst berried laurel branches and a tied quiver and eternal flame. Above is the striking pierced top crown/handle decorated with beautiful scrolled foliate elements, a unique fabric garland design with wonderfully executed swaging blooming flower garlands with intricately detailed love birds, and striking urn shaped finials at each side. — Read Less
