A stunning and extremely high quality French 19th century Louis XVI st. ormolu centerpiece attributed to Henry Dasson. The centerpiece is raised by an exceptional and most decorative pierced base with most decorative scrolled foliate movements in a superb satin and burnished finish. At the center are three charming intricately detailed cherubs with sea serpent tails amidst wonderfully executed rocks, water flora, and richly chased foliate movements seemingly holding up the basket above. The basket displays a remarkable most decorative pierced woven design with a lovely tied design at the rim.
Henry Dasson (1825–1896) was a renowned 19th century Parisian maker of gilt-bronze mounted furniture. Dasson specialized in the production of Louis XIV, XV, and XVI styles, using the finest gilt-bronze mounts and was recognized as a brilliant bronzier. Dasson was made a Chevalier of the Légion d’honneur in 1883 and was awarded the Grand Prix Artistique at the 1889 Paris Exposition Universelle. — Read Less
