An exceptional and most impressive French 19th century Louis XVI st. Belle Époque period patinated bronze and ormolu lidded centerpiece planter. The planter is raised by a striking ormolu base with curved feet displaying most decorative masks and foliate designs with a central beautiful maiden in a rich satin and burnished finish. At the center is the charming finely detailed patinated bronze cherub standing on a ground designed base next to a tree trunk while draped in a wonderfully executed flowing garment while holding his hands in the air seemingly supporting the planter above. The elegantly shaped planter displays exceptional foliate designs throughout with a central scrolled family crest like reserve with a crown and charming seashell with lovely scrolled handles leading up each side. Above is the removable lid decorated with additional scrolled foliate designs with a top floral finial and which lifts off to reveal the finished interior. — Read Less
