A very impressive and extremely high quality French 19th century Louis XV st. Tulipwood, Rosewood, ormolu, and Rouge Royale marble center table/desk by Theodore Millet. The table is raised by elegant cabriole legs with superb pierced foliate ormolu sabots with fine chutes leading to exceptional richly chased pierced foliate corner mounts in a striking satin and burnished finish. The scalloped shaped frieze displays a large single drawer richly decorated with wonderfully executed cube parquetry framed within a stunning finely detailed foliate ormolu band with the sides and back decorated in the same manner. Above is the original thick Rouge Royale marble top with a fine double mottled border. All original gilt throughout.
Theodore Millet (c.1853-c.1904) Maison Millet was a renowned 19th century furniture atelier that was described as producing Antique furniture and bronze art, specializing in the Louis XV and XVI styles. The company won several awards in a series of exhibitions in London and Paris, such as the gold medal in the 1889 Paris Exposition Universelle, a Grand Prix in 1900 and three further diplomes d'honneur and four médailles d’or. — Read Less
