A stunning and extremely high quality French 19th century Louis XV st. Mahogany, Kingwood and ormolu side table/desk signed Krieger. The oval table is raised by elegant cabriole legs with fitted ormolu hoof, acanthus leaf sabots, and displaying a delicate fillet leading up to striking curved foliate corner mounts with superb richly chased rams heads. The frieze displaying one drawer decorated with exceptional pierced Rinceau scrolled vines with grapes and birds holding garlands in their beaks centering a charming Bacchanalian cherubs playing horns amidst tied musical instruments with the sides and back decorated in the same manner. Above is the stunning wonderfully executed parquetry top framed within a beautiful border with intricately details inlaid blooming flowers.
Maison Krieger was founded by Antoine and Nicolas Krieger in Paris in 1826. Producing and taking part in major exhibitions of the 19th century, including the Exposition Universelle and the 1849 Exposition des Produits de l'Industrie in Paris. Receiving a medal for their exhibition at the Universal Exhibitions of 1851 in London, and again in 1855, Paris. Maison Krieger created many pieces in Louis XV & Louis XVI styles, 18th century and Empire designs. Maison Krieger is recorded to have been an active client of François Linke. — Read Less
