A stunning and high quality French 19th century Louis XV st. Kingwood and Ormolu Bureau Plat. The desk is raised by elegant cabriole legs with rich wrap around ormolu sabots. Ormolu chutes connect the richly chased corner ormolu mounts of soldiers wearing their armor and helmet above scrolled foliate designs. The arbalest shaped frieze has a central recessed drawer with a family crest keyhole escutcheon flanked by gadrooned chutes and a drawer at each side. Each drawer and on both sides are decorated with an ormolu band frame. The sides have a wonderful and very decorative mount of a female face. Atop is the gilt tooled brown leather writing surface fitted within its mottled Ormolu gallery with richly chased corner ormolu mounts. — Read Less
