An impressive French 19th century 1st Empire period Mahogany, ormolu, giltwood, and Vert de Patricia marble console circa 1805. The freestanding two tiered console is raised by elegant giltwood bun feet below striking square tapered front legs with finely detailed giltwood feet, richly carved caryatids, and pierced ormolu mounts. The bottom tier is adorned with beautiful ormolu rosettes and richly chased foliate and palmettes designs while the straight back legs display a fine mottled design. The straight apron displays one drawer with exceptional ormolu mounts of centurions above each leg, griffons, and an exquisite central keyhole escutcheon mount of two handsome finely detailed lions amidst Rinceaux scrolled movements drinking out of a reeded fountain. The sides display impressive richly chased lion head reserves and elegant palmettes. Above is the original Vert de Patricia marble top. — Read Less
