A stunning and very high quality French 19th century 1st Empire period flamed mahogany, ormolu, and giltwood vitrine cabinet. The vitrine is raised by impressive giltwood ball feet below the straight apron. At the center are two doors, each retaining their original glass panes, decorated by beautiful richly chased pierced ormolu palmette mounts and keyhole escutcheons. The doors open to reveal all the original hardware, one shelf, and mirrored backplate. Flanking the doors are striking and intricately carved caryatides below ionic capitals and beautiful palmettes. Each side panel also retains their original glass panes framed within straight borders decorated with exceptional rosettes and tulip shaped reserves. Above is an additional impressive and finely detailed rosette flanked by richly chased pierced palmettes and foliate designs. The beautiful flamed mahogany top showcases the exceptional wood grain. — Read Less
