An exceptional French 18th century Louis XVI period Mahogany, ormolu, and white Carrara marble console. The freestanding two tiered console is raised by elegant circular tapered legs with fine ball and topie shaped sabots with mottled top caps below block reserves with beautiful diamond shaped mounts. The central tier displays a delicate pierced and mottled wrap around gallery and connects the four elegant baluster shaped supports. Above each support are most decorative fitted rounded ormolu reserves with lovely beaded and textured designs flanking the central drawer and curved sides. The drawer displays fine ormolu pulls with mottled circular reserves and a central keyhole escutcheon all set on a wonderful Mahogany background showcasing the wood grain and framed within a lovely wrap around mottled foliate band. Above is the original white Carrara marble top fitted within a remarkable wrap around mottled and pierced ormolu gallery. — Read Less
