A superb and very high quality French 18th century Louis XVI period giltwood thermometer and barometer. Each beautiful piece displays very similar and extremely well executed giltwood surroundings. Each is centered by lovely carved flowing fabrics tied with a charming bow. Richly detailed luxuriant floral garlands extend up each side. The white faces display writing in French stating the various temperatures and weathers. They are framed within beautiful rope and beaded mottled borders. Above are lovely oak leaves and charming acorns centering a fine rosette and leading up to beautiful swaging fabrics tied with most elegant flowing bows. All original gilt throughout.
