A handsome and impressive French 18th century Louis XV period Walnut and Marble buffet, from Lyons, Circa. 1730. The Buffet de Château is raised on a straight solid mottled base with rounded corners. The doors above are decorated with rich raised carvings of seashells and foliate patterns within a mottled border. The two doors with a central recessed panels have a mottled border frame, all original large iron hinges, keyhole escutcheon and key. The left door is also fitted with its impressive and elaborate top to bottom mechanical lock. The doors open to reveal the original shelf inside. Above the shelf are two functional and practical drawers with original iron pulls. The two sides of the buffet are decorated by two recessed rectangular panels. Above is the original and two inch thick Pierre de St. Cyr marble with a mottled edge on the three sides. Warm and rich patina throughout. — Read Less
