Sir Peter Lely

Sir Peter Lely (1648-1680) was a Dutch painter who spent most of his career in England. After his arrival to England in 1643, most of his works were of mythological and religious scenes. In 1661 he was appointed as King Charles II’s principal painter. He was later knighted in 1679 shortly before his death in 1680.
