Ernest Rancoulet (French, 1870–1915) – Born in Bordeaux. He was a student of Lequesne and attended the municipal school of Bordeaux. He is best known for his Neoclassical bronze figures of mythological creatures, society women, and athletes. Rancoulet participated in the Paris Salon for several years, regularly exhibiting his elegant figurines and portrait busts. The sculptor also frequently inscribed mythical verse onto his works, notably including Ovid’s Metamorphoses.
