An elegant and very high quality pair of French late 19th century Louis XV st. Mahogany and ormolu side tables by Mercier Frères. Each rectangular table, after a model by François Linke, is raised by slender cabriole legs connected by a lovely bottom shelf with a most decorative quarter veneered design and adorned with fine foliate ormolu sabots and richly chased scrolled foliate corner mounts. The beautiful scalloped shaped aprons display one drawer at the front with graceful mottled circular ormolu pulls. The tops display lovely curvaceous shapes with remarkably raised fillets at the borders framing the beautiful Mahogany grains.
Mercier Frères, Paris was founded by André Mercier in 1828. A high quality fine furniture manufacturer, located at 100 Faubourg Saint-Antoine, Paris Mercier Frères was commissioned by European aristocrats to custom create furnishings with exquisite details and quality ormolu decorations as well as the finest woods and marbles of the period. Mercier Frères participated at the Exposition Universelle in 1867 and 1900. They also expanded to another location called the Palais de Marbre on the Champs Élysées and also to Argentina and New York city. — Read Less
