A stunning and high quality French 19th century Neo-Classical st. ormolu and white Carrara marble clock. The clock is raised by fine circular mottled ormolu feet below the solid white Carrara marble base with striking richly chased sunflowers at each side and a central fitted ormolu plaque with charming finally detailed palmettes. Impressive architectural columns lead up each side and are richly decorated with intricately detailed caryatids, beautiful scrolled movements with richly chased foliate designs and urns with flowers growing out the tops at each side. The superb and most decorative Sunburst designed pendulum is centered by a mask of Bacchus in a striking satin and burnished finished. Above are exceptional draped fabric designed ormolu mounts below the circular white enameled clock face with Roman numbers and pierced hands framed in a beautiful Coeur de Rai ormolu band. Two Sphinx are perched at each side centering the spectacular eagle at the top perched on a rock with a snake wrapped around it and flanked by charming intricately detailed swaging floral garlands at each side.
