Hippolyte Edme Pretot (1812-1855) was a Parisian ébéniste (cabinetmaker) know for his high quality Boulle style furniture and intricate inlays. Known a true specialist in multicolored Boulle style marquetry, he uses an array of materials such as: ebony, copper, brass, pewter, tortoiseshell, Lapis Lazuli, pietra dura, and mother-of-pearl to create unique designs and colorations in his work.
