Jean Gautherin (1840 – 1890), was a renowned Parisian sculptor. He entered the prestigious L’ecole des Beaux-Arts and quickly began winning medals for his works in 1868, 1870 and 1873. Gautherin obtained the very prestigious French ‘Chevalier de la Légion d’Honneur’ medal in 1878. Various works by Gautherin can be seen in museums in Bordeaux, Nancy and Paris.
