A spectacular and most decorative Spanish Baroque 18th century ebony, brass, gilt metal, iron and tortoise shell specimen cabinet on the original stand. The cabinet is raised by six elegant turned ebony legs with fine bun feet and a square stretcher with a delicate inlaid brass fillet. The cabinet has one door and fifteen drawers. The central door displays a stunning design with a richly chased ormolu statue of a maiden draped in flowing fabric. She is standing in a niche and flanked by four impressive tortoise shell columns with ormolu plinths and capitals, all surrounded by finely detailed foliate ormolu mounts and charming masks. The door opens to reveal the handsome and original iron hinges, lock and a fine brass inlaid circular geometric inlaid pattern. Inside are two pairs and three single drawers, each decorated with fine gilt metal pulls. The eight outer drawers also display elegant pierced gilt metal keyhole escutcheons on a most decorative tortoise shell background, framed in an ebony mottled band with beautiful circular brass inlaid designs. To each side are the handsome and striking iron handles. — Read Less
