A charming and extremely high quality French 19th century Louis XVI st. patinated bronze and ormolu statue attributed to Fervill Suan. The statue is raised by an octagonal bronze base with the words Envole-Toi (translating to Fly-Away) at the front with a fine mottled border and wrap around beaded and tied berried laurel bands below the fluted support decorated with charming intricately detailed ormolu butterflies. Above is the wonderfully executed winged young boy standing draped in a flowing fabric holding a hand to his face to admire the butterfly that landed on his finger and holding an ormolu net behind his back. Wonderful proportion and fine attention to detail throughout.
