An extraordinary and extremely high quality French mid 19th century Louis XVI st. ebony and ormolu mounted buffet with its original marble top, attributed to Befort Jeune. The buffet is raised by elegant topie shaped feet with ormolu sabots and a finely etched ormolu top caps. The frieze displays stunning Vitruvian scrolls amidst foliate designs, centered by most detailed floral rosettes above each leg and a fine coeur de rai fillet. At the center are two doors, with their original hand blown glass panes framed within a finely etched ormolu band with rosettes at each corner which open to reveal the ivory silk upholstered interior. To each side are curved doors also retaining their original hand blown curved glass. Separating the doors are handsome circular fluted columns with most decorative fitted ormolu chandelles and a striking capital draped with a fine berried laurel swaging garland. At the apron is one central drawer with a beautiful foliate keyhole escutcheon. Magnificent and richly chased pierced rinceau shaped foliate ormolu designs extend along the sides. Above is the original white Carrara marble top which repeats the fine shape of the buffet. Fabulous satin and burnished finish and all original gilt throughout. — Read Less
