A striking pair of French 19th century Renaissance st. patinated bronze and black Belgian marble lamps signed Barbedienne. Each lamp is raised by fine ormolu ball feet below the triangular Black Belgian marble bases with concave sides and finely mottled borders. Three elegantly curved supports with a handsome paw feel lead upwards to unique and extremely decorative reserves of Hercules wearing a lion's skin. The body displays beautiful finely detailed scenes of classical figures playing flutes, a statue on a pedestal, a man with a ram, and outside scenes with a hanging pan flute and a staff leaning on a pedestal. Above are elegantly curved handles connected by richly chased swaging blooming flower garlands with superb rams heads below the lightly curved necks decorated with additional foliate designs. All original patina throughout.
