An extremely high quality French 19th century Louis XVI st. three drawer commode, signed KRIÉGER The commode in tulipwood and kingwood is raised by four square tapered legs ending with an ormolu sabot and decorated by a top ormolu band. Above are two small drawers over a wide drawer, all sans traverse. The drawers are elegantly decorated by a richly chased ormolu oval medallion with a large bow at the top and bottom, tied with laurel branches. The central oval is flanked by ormolu drawer pulls, and all framed within an ormolu reeded band with ribbon, accented with square ormolu rosettes. The sides are decorated the same, with the signature displayed at the rear right ormolu top cap. At the top lays the original thick marble with a double mottled edge. All original gilt and hardware throughout. Maison Krieger was founded by Antoine and Nicolas Krieger in Paris in 1826.
