A sensational and palatially scaled true pair of Italian late 18th/early 19th century Venetian st. Giltwood and Vert de Patricia marble consoles. Each truly exceptional freestanding console is raised on four highly decorated 'S' scrolled legs supported on pawed feet. The legs are designed with scrolling acanthus leaves and finely carved winged busts of a bearded man. All four legs are connected by a 'S' scrolling 'X' shaped stretcher decorated by acanthus leaves and a roaring dragon facing the central reserve. The reserve displays a seated joyful and energetic Venetian street performer with captivating movements wearing entertainment themed attire. The Regence style pierced front apron is tastefully decorated by an arbalest shaped frame containing a foliate decorated bust flanked by swaging acanthus leaf garlands, additional scrolling foliate movements, and carved lattice patterns. Both side aprons display Regence style draping scallop shaped tassels with carved laurel vines.
