A sensational French 19th century Neo-Classical st. Ormolu, patinated Bronze, and marble clock signed by Germain, Paris, 1825. The clock is elegantly raised on a white Carrara marble base with a central Ormolu plaque in the manner of Clodion with playful cherubs and a dog, flanked by circular recessed mounts of Medusa. Above are two rectangular pedestals in black Belgium marble accented by stars and white Carrara which are supported by Ormolu paws, with two seated open winged sphinges above. The sphinges carry the signed enameled dial with Roman numerals above a draped lace like curtain with hanging tassels. Above the dial is another pedestal with two charming patinated Bronze swans drinking from an urn with a central fountain amidst cat tails. Wonderful detail throughout. — Read Less
