A handsome pair of French 19th century Renaissance st. patinated bronze and black Belgian marble lamps signed F. Barbedienne. Each lamp is raised by an impressive hexagonal black Belgium marble base with a fine wrap around ormolu fillet and elegantly mottled socle shaped pedestal support. The decorative urn shaped body displays beautiful intricately detailed personages draped in classical attire amidst lovely foliate designs and charming winged cherubs below elegant scrolled handles. All original patina throughout with the foundry stamp Réduction Mécanique inside the urn.
Ferdinand Barbedienne (10 January 1810 – 21 March 1892) Barbadienne was a French renowned bronzier. Between 1850 and 1854 his firm , Barbedienne,, provided furnishings in the Renaissance Revival style for the Hôtel de Ville, Paris. They received numerous medals at the International Exhibitions, including medals in three different classes at the International Exhibition of 1862 in London. — Read Less
