A superb French and German collaboration 19th century Louis XVI st. ormolu and Meissen porcelain tureen centerpiece. The tureen is raised by a fine pierced circular ormolu base with elegant foliate feet and a lovely beaded wrap around band. The beautiful tureen displays masterfully executed and finely detailed hand painted scenes of people eating and drinking outside and playing, all with a church in the background. Finely detailed and vivid colored flowers extend throughout the tureen. Impressive scrolled ormolu handles extend up each side with fine foliate designs and richly chased swaging berried laurel garlands. Above the pierced wrap around ormolu rim is the removable lid. The lid is decorated with additional beautiful flowers, a jovial scene of people drinking and a striking porcelain figuring of possibly a young Bacchus kneeling and holding a raised glass toasting in one hand and a carafe of wine in the other. All original gilt throughout. — Read Less
