A sensational and very high-quality pair of Italian 18th-century high back throne giltwood armchairs à Chassis, which signifies that the upholstery is easily removed and changed for every season. The pair of Genovese armchairs are raised by elegant cabriole legs which lead to an arbalest shaped front apron and curved sides. The center of the front apron has a wonderful and richly carved central reserve of a four-leaf flower. The legs, sides, arms and back are decorated by a most elegant double twisted ribbon design. The ‘S’ scrolled arms lead to the tall violin shaped back. At the back are the iron mounts supporting the removable backs.
